All About FMC Motor Coach Owner's Club
As a charter club of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA), our purpose is to foster camaraderie, discussion and mutual support for owners of the FMC Motor Coach; only one thousand fifty of these collector motor homes were built from 1972 to 1976. We are all proud owners of a rare and beautiful accomplishment in mechanical engineering. After 10 years in the other FMC Clubs, East, Southeast, and West, Leslie Hoagland of Motor Coach Restoration (MCR), believed that a FMC Club would be best experienced as an exclusive club for FMC Owners. Over the years, many visitors and new members expressed to Leslie that they were disappointed that more activities were not centered on the FMC Motor Coach. The existing FMC Clubs had made good friendships, but many owners had purchased Brand X Coaches after they had had a FMC Coach. The purpose of the original FMC Clubs was lost when those friends remained members.
So, in the fall of 2000, MCR mailed an invitation to all FMC Owners asking them to come to Lincoln, Illinois to form a new club. Those that responded met in the MCR Showroom on October 8, 2000, and formed the FMC Motor Coach Owners Club. The membership decided that the Club Charter would state that membership in the Club was to be restricted to FMC Owners. Once the member's FMC Motor Coach was sold, the owner would terminate their membership.
The newly formed FMC Motor Coach Owners Club nominated and elected Lenny Mach as President, Leslie Hoagland as Vice President, Karen Hoagland (Leslie's wife) as Secretary/Treasurer, and Wayne Jacoby as National Director. Lenny Mach took the podium as presiding officer and the first meeting was officially held at that time.
The FMC Motor Coach Owners Club was formed as an FMCA Chapter partly so that liability insurance for Club Rallies would be furnished by FMCA, and club members would have the advantages of FMCA membership, which include Regional and International Rallies, Monthly Magazine, and numerous FMCA membership Benefits. The FMC Motor Coach Owners Club charter was adopted by membership vote.
Over the last seven years, the FMC Motor Coach Owners Club has held Rallies in various locales, such as Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Indiana, Las Vegas, Indiana, California, Michigan, and in August, 2007, the club conducts its first "Caravan Rally" from Colorado to New Mexico.
Now with 5 Regional Vice-Presidents, the club plans to have at least 6 Rallies per year in the various regions of North America so that every member can attend at least one FMC Rally without excessive travel.
As our membership grows, our goal is always to get more FMC coaches to join us and attend a rally where other owners can share the rewarding and sometimes trying experiences of owning an FMC motor coach.
If you own an FMC motor coach but are not yet a member, we encourage you to contact us for more information about the process and benefits of becoming a member. You will join an exclusive group of people who love to restore, maintain and travel in one of the greatest motor homes ever built.
Even if you are not a member, even if you don't own an FMC, if you have an RV, please be sure to travel in your RV so that you can enjoy the beauty of North America.
If you have any questions or comments about our club, our coach or our web site, please contact us.
HAPPY TRAILS to All
