 Look closely. The boys are standing inside the burnt out center of a redwood tree that was felled about 100 years ago when this area was clear cut. The stump was the mother tree. The ring of trees around the stump are the young trees that have grown from the mother tree's roots. When you find a ring of redwoods, the size of the ring tells you how large the mother tree was. | ||
