Rt 66 Rally - 2009
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums)

This is a photo gallery of a few of the photos taken by Stephen Heinrichs. The first few pictures document a little of the 2,000 mile trip it took to get to the rally location in Springfield, MO from California. The rest of the pictures document the visits to special attractions arranged by the Rally Master and Route 66 itself. A great time was had by all.

Frank really did it again when he moved the water hose attachment and the electrical attachment to under the license plate. Very neat and clean. I have been trying to decide what to do with my cord and I think this is it!

These hub caps must get a lot of attention where ever Frank goes. He had them machined out of solid aluminum. They really look nice!

Another view of the Borrmann coach #645 from Ontario, Canada.

Note the large clearance lights. I hadn't seen these on any coach prior to the rally. Frank also has them on #645.

Here is Denny Shewmake's coach #890. It is a very nice looking coach and Denny takes good care of it.

On #617 you will note that there is neither basement AC nor a storage compartment. This is probably the only coach without a door here for some purpose. Jim needed the closet to be taller so that area was added to the closet by lowering the closet floor.

Here is Jim Woestman's coach #617. Note that there is no insigia's on the coach. He has them, but you will have to ask him for the story as to why they are not on the coach!

Here are Denny Shewmake, Jim Woestman and Suzanne and Frank Borrmann visiting with the Borrmann's coach, #645, in the background.

Here is coach #1046 at the KOA campground in Springfield, MO. where we all met up to start the Rt. 66 rally. It was a good campground choice with nice mature trees.

This is Frank Borrmann inspecting the underside of #617 where some weights were added. Jim W. had about 500 lbs. of weight added to the front of his coach to improve handling as it helps rebalance the coach after the change to the 8.2L Turbo Detroit Diesel. Notice the weights behind the bumper as well.

Well, I made it to the campground that night and saw another FMC on the way to my site. It was too late to visit that night, but in the morning I was finally able to meet Denny Shewmake and his grandson, Roy, in person. Let the party begin!!

Blue skies, fluffy clouds, green grass and, what's that, another one of those stupid signs stuck in the grass. Yep, I am stopped again, but not due to fuel (I learned that lesson!). I guess I am being taught another lesson about checking fan belt tension when you stop for fuel as I have been running fast across six states and am in the seventh state and, you guessed it, the infamous FMC fan belts disintegrate! And I just reserved the camping site!
