Rt 66 Rally - 2009
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums)

This is a photo gallery of a few of the photos taken by Stephen Heinrichs. The first few pictures document a little of the 2,000 mile trip it took to get to the rally location in Springfield, MO from California. The rest of the pictures document the visits to special attractions arranged by the Rally Master and Route 66 itself. A great time was had by all.

Following the route.

On down Rt 66. I think this was Galena, KS.

Three coaches in a row - looking good!

Stephen beside the glass brick ticket booth.

Here is a drive in that is still prospering.

Up and over the "high bridge".

Another view of the courthouse.

At this point, the Borrmann's had to return home due to other obligations even though they would have preferred to continue with the group. This is Frank, Suzanne, Rachel and Jesse with coach #645.

Here is Frank and Ken talking to Jim. Now you will notice that Ken has a bandage on his forehead. I will not explain what occured to cause Ken to have the bandage. For that explaination you will have to attend the next rally that Ken and Lynn attend and ask Ken for the story.

Another view of the coaches the next morning.

The caravan contined along Rt 66 until it came to the Big Red Barn RV park where we were staying the night. The coaches from front to back are #617 - Woesterman, #1046 - Heinrichs, #645 - Borrmann, #890 - Shewmake.

In between the first and second stops, we had lunch in a period diner/sandwich shop and then walked on over to the county courthouse. We then toured it and the city hall across the street. Note: Jim doubles as Mayor of Carthage. The county courthouse is very impressive and very well designed and built of Carthage stone. Carthage is known for the stone that is quarried in the area due to the quality and light color of the stone. The White House is constructed of Carthage stone and that is why it is the color it is. I neglected to bring my camera to lunch so this picture was taken while driving the coach past the courthouse through town as part of a caravan. Turn your head for a vertical view! The building encompasses an entire city block.
