Closet Shelves added
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums)

I recently observed some shelves on the back wall of the closet in coach #400. Since the closet is deeper than needed for hanging clothes, it appeared to be a good spot to add some narrow shelves for storage of various things. So here are pictures of how I added shelves to my coach #1046.

Same thing on the right wall.

To support the shelves, a vertical board was attached to each side. I used a 1x6. Before installing it, I trimmed the board to make it 1 inch narrower at the top as the side of the coach angles in by about that much from the middle of the sidewall. Also, I used my radial arm saw to cut groves every 2" at a 5 degree angle to support the shelves and slope them toward the wall so that things placed on the shelves would lean against the wall and remain stable while traveling.

Top right corner.

Here is the top left corner of the closet.
