Rt 66 Rally - 2009 | ||
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums) This is a photo gallery of a few of the photos taken by Stephen Heinrichs. The first few pictures document a little of the 2,000 mile trip it took to get to the rally location in Springfield, MO from California. The rest of the pictures document the visits to special attractions arranged by the Rally Master and Route 66 itself. A great time was had by all. |

You will note the destination at the top of the GPS screen. We are rolling good and I am running ahead of schedule, so I called ahead to the campground and reserved a space for tonight. | Given the prior day's experience, I was careful to not make the same mistake the next day. Here I am fueling up. What a good boy am I! | I spent the next night in North Platte, NE and when I got up in the morning and went for a little walk, this is what I saw. While I think the sign is correct, they are really great machines and go like the wind when there is fuel in the tank! | Fueled up, I continued on and UP and UP. Near the top of one of many Wyoming passes, it was cold and FOGGY in June! See the proof.
Let's revise that estimate. Since I coasted to a stop going up this hill at the distance stated on the sign before my intended fueling location, I now think that I only had 29 miles of fuel! Because of the kind assistance of others, I only lost about an extra 15 minutes. | Speaking of fuel, these signs are put up along the highway to remind drivers of neccessities just incase they get too entranced with the great views. Aw, I am good for another 30 miles! | Given that I had a long way to go to get from CA to MO, this stop just across into Wyoming covered all of the first night's requirements: sleep, food and fuel.
