custom ventilation work with expanded steel screen on the right rear corner, the rear engine access door has the same. | This is an in-line thermostat. I will be taking it apart and checking the function when I replace the rubber hoses soon. It lets hot engine water pass through it, but I have an issue with hot water reaching the cab. I do get hot water heating the hot water heater up front though...still need to investigate. Well after investigating, this heater hose only supplies water to the HW heater, and to the added extra engine water cooler. I know now that my dash heat is supplied from the RH side of the rig, tied into the rear bedroom heater loop etc...still need to trouble shoot that system. | I got tired of playing football with the coolant overflow tank...so I will remove and install a different tank in a new location...I also replaced the 3/4" heater hoses and put in a new ball valve shut off. I flushed out the lines running north and south with the garden hose, I flushed it both directions multiple times, then blew the non DI water out. | I found this tank on LMC Truck when I was buying parts for my '79 ford. It was priced right, and is of great quality. I had an issue finding a good place to relocate a new tank. It was either too close to the Onan's exhaust on the driver side, and it was not going back in the original place either. So I found this little cubby behind my built in/swing out shelf near the engine battery.
(2 Comments) Here you can see the swing out metal shelf as it hangs out the R-rear door. The shelf is great for putting tools and or bolts on when your working on the engine, (when the shelf is swung back inside the compartment of course).... | Here is shelf in its installed position, and there is just enough room behind it for the coolant tank. | And here you can see the tank from outside the rig, makes it nice for a walk by and check the anti-freeze level with out sticking your head in | Well, I finally finished servicing the stub axles, (for anyone who has not done this job yet, you can remove the axle and bearings from under the rig, no need to remove the outer drive flange from the hub. Having a good set of snap ring pliers is key...
Then came a good spring exterior scrub. Time to take 850 around the block! | Im getting closer to camping in 850, still need to mount new tires, install the new converter, and some other etc's and unknowns still to come. | This is the rebuild kit needed for wheel brake cylinders. Raybestos also has it as part # WK195 | This is the grease seal for the drive/stub axle
