West Coast Ocean Cove Rally - 2011

One of the local attractions was Fort Ross. This fort was established in 1812 by Russia and is the southernmost Russian settlement along the North American coast. Here you see the Russian Orthodox church which is restored and still has services several times a year.	Jim Woestman is reading the plaque.	And now you can attempt to read it.	Jim had a real rough time reading the inscription on the church bell.
The woodwork inside was plain, but beautiful. This is looking up at the second or main steeple.	Simple but nicely done. There are no pews as the service is always done with everyone standing up for the entire service.	It appeared that the fort commander and his family lived upstairs here along with stores of the more valuble supplies.	These muskets were downstairs.
Also downstairs was this valuble tool and ...	... this one.	Notice how two shorter logs are joined to make one longer one for the wall.	This is taken from the front of the church looking down the slope to the front of the fort. One of the two block houses is to the left. Gage Miller an Joe Camrye are coming up the hill.
