West Coast Gold Beach Rally - July 2013
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums) This album covers a little bit of the fun we had at the Gold Beach, OR rally. We had 8 FMC coaches plus three more owners whose coaches were not able to travel at this time. This rally was unusual in that we had a major Saturday activity with a jet boat ride up the Roque River. It was enjoyed by all that could make it. The photos are courtesy of Stephen Heinrichs, Nuntawan Camrye, and Larry Enoksen. |

Following the river. | The next several shots are of the canyon that we were passing through. This section of the river and its uniqueness was instramental to stopping the potential construction of a dam and getting the Wild and Scenic designation for this river. | Here is a deer standing in the shade of the tree. | ... and then we make a fast turn and this is what happens! Particularly to those in the last 3-4 rows of seats - including the camera man, Stephen Heinrichs. Some nice photos were missed as I was attempting to dry off or protect my camera.
Here we are traveling along at the "average speed" per Kevin, but note that carlton has also given up on his cap and the hair blowing in the wind. | It is the spraying of water as the boat twists and turns that periodically gets the occupants wet. That is particularly true of those in the back half of the boat! That will be important to remember later. | Here Alice Kamm is holding onto her hat and Larry Inoksen, on the right, has given up on his hat. | And away we go with Gage Miller on the left and Michael Metsch in the green shirt.
Back on the river our boat is waiting for us. | (1 Comments) If you look through the brush on the left, you will see the river far below. Now, remember that high water year of 1964. Well, the water was just below the level of where we were eating so imagine that whole canyon filled with water! | Finally we made it to our lunch stop. It was just in time as we were all hungery. Also the bathrooms were timely! | ... and we contiue upriver enjoying the view.
