Stove/Oven Replacement
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums)

Due to our use patterns and due to a high sensitivity to hydrocarbon fumes, the decision was made to remove the original stove/oven (sold to another coach owner) and replace it with an electric cooking system. These pictures follow the transformation once the orignal unit was gone.

This is the initial test fitting of the oven to the frame to the opening. Yeah!! Everything was as it was supposed to be.

The L piece at the bottom was made so that it rests on the rear frame of the cabinet. That is a very solid point that can take the forces when the coach is on a rough road. This point supports the weight and the upper connection ties the support frame to the coach body frame. Also note that the propane line was shortened and left in place in the event a future owner desires to reinstall a gas stove.

The plan was to create a strong framework that would support the heavy convection/microwave/bake/broil oven that was going to be installed. Here you see how the structure was installed. The top horizontal piece was placed at a height that matched one of the box aluminum members of the upper body frame of the FMC.

Here you see Matt laying down some smooth, strong welds. Thank you Matt.

The first step after having the support frame pieces cut and formed, was to have them welded together.
