Originaly two of the three vents was sitting above the roof level to prevent water leakage. My new roof is level so I had to make new raised bases for my vents. I started out with a cutout from some ready made laminate.

I secured them with a few self tapping screws to prevent them from moving around when laminating them to the roof. I cut four holes on each with a holesaw so it was easy to see where to place them over the original openings.

Will wait untill gelcoating is done before making the cutouts .

All three of them done.

New bathroom vent base.

25.2.08 More than one month has passed since we started out on this gelcoat job. Last 2 weeks has been endless hours of adding gelcoat and sanding it down again on the roof. Now finally we are ready to spray the three layers that will be sanded and buffed to finish. How many hours so far? Do not even think about it ;-)

OK here we go. Finally time to spray gelcoat on the roof.

We where three on this job. Kristian was the gunslinger, Totto mixed the gelcoat and I tryed to keep the four sprayguns clean and not mess up anything the pro's where doing.

This is first of three layers. We did two layers of gelcoat then a top layer of gelcoat with wax added (topcoat)

This might look like a poor paintjob but this it what you get when spraying the gelcoat. The finish has to be worked up by sanding, buffing and polish. I took 35 kilos to do the three layers!

Dry and wet sanding is done, time to do some buffing. We will use Autosol times three, then one round of Hempel rubbing before adding hard wax twice for shine and protection.

Fmc motorcoach roof upgrade ;-)
