Here Larry is watching Mark work putting the exhaust manifold back onto the engine. | Here Larry is watching Mark work with a Dremel to create a hole in the exhaust manifold shield. | Exhaust temperature sensor is in place. | It was time! The engine was inserted and bolted in. | ||
However, at that point a problem was noted in that the engine was slighly rotated to the right. | And here is the problem. The welder miss located the steel plate that holds the right side motor mount. The top of that plate was suppost to be even with the top of the frame. | The correct it, out came the engine one more time! Please note that anti-rotation chains were always attached as we were lifting with the crakshaft pulley and, if it was not restrained, the block could and would rotate around the crankshaft. This could damage the engine and personal safety. | Here is a clear veiw of the mislocated plate. | ||
So that the integrity of the frame member would not be compromised, the mount was removed and moved up on the plate rather than the plate being moved up on the frame member. | Here is a view of the tranny with the driveline brake and with the transmision crossmember attached. Part of the brake actuation system was test fitted at this point. | The engine goes back in for, hopefully, the last time. | Engine is in with "Loctite" on the bolts to ensure that it stays in! | ||
