Stove/Oven Replacement | ||
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums) Due to our use patterns and due to a high sensitivity to hydrocarbon fumes, the decision was made to remove the original stove/oven (sold to another coach owner) and replace it with an electric cooking system. These pictures follow the transformation once the orignal unit was gone. |

This is a test fitting of the fan housing. Creating the housing that goes from a circle to a rectangle in a couple of inches was a challenge but came out very well. | (1 Comments) Now it is installed with the fan and wired. The round object just below the fan is a temperature activated switch. Should the oven be used and the fan not manually turned on and the temperature of this area reach 150 degrees, that switch will turn the fan on automatically and cool things down. | This is the outside view. Note the panhead 8/32 bolts used to attached this outside fixture to the fan housing sandwitching the fiberglass wall. This makes for a very clean, sturdy attachment of all pieces. | A closeup of the switched outlets that will service the cooktop area. By having switched outlets, something can be left plugged in and yet the power can be removed. Also should something be spilled all power can be removed very quickly and safely. | ||
Another test fitting, but now the side panel that covers the vent line and wiring is permanently in place. | We have been focused on the oven, but take a look at the what replaces the gas burners. This is an electic "hot plate" that is an induction unit. It doesn't itself get hot so it can be used wherever you can plug it in. I have this counter so I can cook on both sides of the coach. | This is the normal cooking location. I can leave the unit plugged in and simply turn the power on or off as desired with the switched outlet. The plywood counter piece will later be replaced with a cutting board style wooden piece. There will be a drawer underneath the board. | I have two burner units so I can use them like this or ... | ||
... like this or one on this side of the coach and one on the other side of the coach. | Here is a close up of how the oven is anchored to the supporting frame. One on each side. It can't move no matter how big of a bump I hit! | Now the trim around the oven and the cabinet has been added. The trim piece was edged with automotive "door edge" material to keep the SS flashing from scratching the oven and to create the seal. | Finally, all of the pieces are in place. With the high capacity exhaust fan, three screens were used so lots of air can be drawn up and out by the exhaust fan. They are attached to the back side of the under pan. Note the addition of the LED light under the oven so that the cook top area has good lighting. And, yes, a little bling is good. It's my coach, and I am proud of it! | ||
