Leveling System, Hitch and Towing Modifications
Author: LCAC_Man (Show all albums) This album will show both the loads I attach and the modifications to the hitch/braking systems to make that work. |

These are the Power Plus jacks, this was early on in my project but the only real pictures I took of them, the fronts are the same. | (1 Comments) added six additional bumper mount bolts to match the extended length of the structure | the entire underside has been boxed in as well...this will not flex.. | Replaced the original 1/2" fasteners that were a loose fit in the oval mounting holes with 5/8" high strength flanged fasteners. I also welded the inside of the frame rail extension (only welded on the outside from the factory)
rear structure has been extended the full width of the coach | I've added 2400lbs RWM skid casters for a little protection for "off camber" situations. I got a good deal on buying individual casters, one with composite wheels, one with steel wheels and just mixed the two. About $100 total for the pair which is $100 cheaper than buying a matched set.. | 3 receiver hitch fabrication complete | (2 Comments) plenty of elevation in the lifted position but I have to deal with the flex of both the lift and the receiver structure with this amount of tongue weight, it's something that I've seen in previous uses of cycle carriers so it wasn't a real surprise.
the lift has a build in "tilt back" fully up position | it easily lifts my 260lbs kymco like scooter | folds up nice when not in use | My scooter carrier is a modified mobility scooter/wheel chair carrier
