After kicking it around I decided to just go with all new switches and make everything match. Scan Gauge II lets me monitor stuff like Inlet air temp and a few other things that the cluster doesn't. | I reused the small switch panel that previously was populated with now removed systems. EGT and Boost gauges just fit with all the interference that's behind them. | Couldn't resist, I mocked up the dash as it will look when finished. | I had to remove the brake assy at the backing plate to get to the under/backside. Nodular iron welds up pretty easy, even in overhead position..
Used 3/8"x4" flatbar to weld directly to the swing arm. | Switched back over to some fabrication work and got a good start on the rear air bag lower mounts. They will be plated (1/8") top and bottom and will have one large gusset across the top. | Cut in the shifter, ignition and mirror controls, still many switches and two new gauges to be added. Also stared on center dash section which will hold new stereo along with the airbag suspension controls and a few other circuits.. | Hose, soap and scrub brush made for a huge improvement!
(1 Comments) Checking circuits brought me to pull out the microwave...WTF with the orange extension cord wiring??? | (1 Comments) Forward upper cabinet removed so I can access the 115vac wiring to reroute from the old converter to power the new forward AC unit. | ready for fresh grease and 40 more years.. thankfully all the joints were in great shape so that was a nice savings.. | 40yrs of road grime and petrified grease removed.
