completed enough of the fabrication that it was time to pull the motor back out | pulled the turbo to allow for better cleaning of the engine and easier removal of the intake bridge | no one that's ever seen the intake downstream of the egr and pcv would ever leave those systems in place, this is typical (I've pulled apart three different duramax turbos and all look the same) of what the egr and pcv system deposit in the intake stream | intake bridge after a good scrubbing
passenger side intake bank, cleaned out what I could...I'm not pulling the whole top end apart.. | finish welding and paint done on the new engine cross-member | finish weld and paint done on the transmission cross-member | rear levelers moved aft, this doesn't have anything to do with the motor swap but I needed the real-estate they were occupying to install airbags, it also allowed me to get rid of the horrible workmanship of the RVS weld/fabrication/install the only thing good about what they did was that the welds had so little penetration that it didn't require much effort to cut them off..
cooler corner version 3.0, I've cut out all of my first attempts and I'm going with a modular aluminum frame system | I used some 5/8" fence wood to simulate the thickness of the fuel tank flange, this new intercooler flange with mount directly to the fuel tank flange. welds need work.. | I came up with a mount/frame system that would allow me to drop the whole package out the bottom if I chose too but would also allow for just intercooler removal, or just fan removal from the top | trans cooler connections right at the frame rail level for easy routing
