#846 - Cummins Swap | ||
Author: andy1canada (Show all albums) Howdy Folks! Going to give this another try as my first attempt didn't go so well on the 'Diner-conversion' thread (Will update/edit that soon). Started my Cummins swap by pulling off the bumper; only took better part of an hour. That sucker is HEAVY! Better part of a 100 lbs I bet. Will be looking to knock substantial weight off that baby while still retaining a 5000 lb towing standard. This will take a while as it will unfold as time and resources permit, so please be patient. More pics and hopefully some videos (FMC-TV) to follow. Cheers, Terry #846 |

THIS CURSORY MEASUREMENT IS WITH THE YOKE SET AT ABOUT 1/2 WAY OF ITS TRAVEL. PRETTY SURE THESE ARE BIGGER THAN THE FMC UNITS. NOTE: BOTH THE PROP-SHAFT AXLE STUBS AND THE PINION OUTPUT SHAFT ON THIS RS-15120 ARE THE SAME AS THE FMC UNITS ON THE ROCKWELL F140. | ALMOST DEAD-NUTS ON 6" OUTSIDE TO OUTSIDE OF THE BEARING CAPS. | FIRST OF TWO SKETCHES OF THE RS-15120. I'VE CONFIRMED THE TWO PROP SHAFTS AND THE PINION SHAFT ARE THE SAME AS WHAT'S ON THE FMC'S F140 DIFFERENTIAL. IT SHOULD BOLT ON TO AN FMC, JUST LIKE CHRIS HOAGLAND STIPULATED. EACH OF THE 3 STUB SHAFTS TAKES A 1.25"-18 FLANGE NUT, PART #1227Z936 | SORRY THESE ARE SUCH LARGE FILES AND HARD TO SEE ON HERE. DISINCLINED TO RE-DO ALL THIS SHIT OVER AGAIN. EASY TO 'SAVE AS' THEN OPEN WITH YOUR OWN VIEWER AND ZOOM-IN AND OUT AS YOU PLEASE. THIS SKETCH SHOWS AN APPROXIMATION OF THE 5-DEG PINION ANGLE ON THESE DIFF'S.
Some good promotional info here from the original seller's of these diff's, the late great, Leslie Hoagland, of the former MCR RV service/repair/sales business in Illinois.
