Collapsible FMC themed Fire Box
Author: BigRabbitMan (Show all albums)

Here are a few pictures of the FMC Fire Box that will be won by some lucky ticket buyer at the raffle at the Mega Rally in June. It is cut from 1/8" metal plate with the floor 1/4 metal plate. It slips together and apart with no tools and for storage makes a 3/4" stack that will ride in the bottom of your storage compartment. It will have a high temperature black paint before being used and raffled at the rally.

... and here is the stuff that will go into the Fire Box. This is "stubbies" of California Almond wood that has been aged two plus years. Get your hot dogs and marshmellows ready and open your wallet and buy some raffle tickets!!

Posted by: BigRabbitMan (2010-06-11 10:45 PM) Here is the Fire Box packed and ready to head to the Mega Rally in Minden. I told you it would fit nicely into the storage compartment. Don't be confused as the Fire Box is on top of the grey tool set and underneath the six brackets and the cardboard box with stuff sticking out.

That's it folks, time to buy your raffle tickets. See the forum thread for instructions on how. We will use it in Minden and then it goes home to the raffle winner! That can be you only if you buy raffle tickets!

I told you how compact the Fire Box becomes when dismantled for storage and travel. Here are the photos of the unit broken down for travel. 3/4" tall and snug in your storage bin for the trip to the campground.

Another view of the painted unit. Note that it goes together nicely even if a piece is put on backwards so even YOU can put it together.

The Fire Box has now been painted with high temperature flat black paint. Now here is the unique part: the painter where I work and who painted the Fire Box was a painter for FMC for the last of the motor coaches. If you have a high numbered coach, he probably painted both your and my coaches!!

Yes, take me home with you! Buy your raffle tickets now. If you are not at the rally, the fire box will travel your direction with an attendee so you can still buy tickets and win the fire box. See the forum thread for purchase instructions.

Another look at the fine lines of the FMC Motor Coach. Just imagine yourself in the campground with a matching coach and fire box. You will be the envy of every passerby. Buy your raffle tickets now!!

Air is fed to the fire through all of the cutouts that form the words, the windows, wheels, door handle, gas filler, etc. The coach form and engine grill etc. are narrow cuts in the metal plate. When the fire is burning, you will be able to see it through all of the openings and the engine grill etc.

Here you can see that the floor plate extends beyond the sidewall. This design ensures that ashes or coals don't dribble out of the joint. The end plates are snugged to the floor plate by the turned down tabs at the ends.

This is the right side of the fire box and the right side of the coach.

The end plates tell who we are.
