(2 Comments) This is the cabinet on your left as you enter the coach. You can see that it is almost empty as all but a few things have been moved to the closet shelves. I also moved stuff from the main outside storage to the closet shelves and they are still not full. Now I can put items that I want to have easier access to or use more frequently on these shelves. I added about 12 linear feet of shelving inside the closet. I may put canned goods on some of these shelves after the positive latching latches that I have ordered come in. | Another view. | (2 Comments) A view with hanging clothes. | Now all four shelves are installed. There could be more or fewer shelves as desired. The bottom one is 4.5", the two middle ones are 3.0" and the top one is 6.0". The top one can be wider as it is above the shoulder height of the hanging clothes. Note that the shelf edge material changed from shelf to shelf as I used existing material for everything except the side boards and nail plates. |
Here are the first two shelves with "stuff" on them. The bottom shelf is 4.5" deep for the larger items and the next one is 3.0" deep to not intrude into the area needed for clothes. | Here you can see where the shelf itself is against the side of the coach even though the side board has a gap. | The bottom shelf has been slid into place. | This is an end view of a finished shelf. Note that there is a lathe attached to the front edge of the shelf to keep things from vibrating off of the shelf. |
See how the plates are attached to the bottom of the shelves. | There are different ways that the shelve could be attached to the side boards. I elected to have small metal plates at each end of the shelves that could be slid into the groves that I previously cut into the side boards. To make the plates, I cut some nailing plates in half. | Measure twice, cut once! I used these two tapes to measure the inside distance between the two side support boards.
