Here is a little trick that work fine for me. My gearshift was kind of hard to operate and I always suspected the wire. So I bought a new one. But while doing the work up front I tested lubricating the old cable. I cut and ziptied a piece of bicycle tube ont to the end of the cable and an plastic can. Then I poured light penentrating lubricant (something close to WD40)in the can and left the rest of the job to gravity. After two days and operating the wire once the lube reached all the way to the rear end and now I have a very nice cable withh little or no resistance. Did the same the the handbrake but could not get it to drip out in the rear (yet). By the way it was the handbrake lever mechanism that made it really hard to operate on #477, not the cable and a easy fix up front. Throttle is next but I'll have to disconnect it on top of engine and route that end down to the ground first. | And some insulation inside the alu structure where there is nothing on the outside. At leat this will prevent any condensation from occuring on the bare metal. | New foam insulation added to the front. The area surrounding and below the brake master cylinder is left out, there I better use some Armaflex so I dont have to deal with bolts, nuts and wires covered in foam. Will install the other details bolted on the inside using POP-nuts. | Finally able to get something done on the coach again. Primer coated and ready for paint and insulation on the front. |
(1 Comments) One rock solid lower left corner. As far as I know this was the last chassis damage on #477. I have a few more places to attend to on the frame/chassis, like closing up the ends of the outer frame members and a few bracets for the lower fiberglass panels. And the aftermarket bump stops/ ruber springs in the rear has to be redone, they look like .... But all in all, it feels really good to finally finish up this part of the project. | Using cardboard to make template. | (1 Comments) First piece of metal is welded in where it will support the floor an stiffen up the whole area. My welding sucks right now and I'm struggeling to find the right settings. I'm always like this when I have not done any welding in a long time. | Lets start cutting. The vertical piece in the center of the picture is the only place where the upper structure an floring is connected to the front cross member. That looks weak to me. And that vertical is clearly bendt when seen from the front. |
