Hi everyone,

I was reading through the service manual for #4 and found a service bulletin requiring owners/dealers to change the OEM 7# radiator cap to a 13 #. I currently have a 10# cap.

Any suggestions? I know the higher the pressure, the higher the boiling point of the water. But what is too high for these old girls?

John

I think the general rule of thumb is that if the tanks on your radiator are ribbed/corrugated then you can go with the higher pressure cap, if not you should stick with the lower pressure cap.
There is a thread in the Mechanics section that list many of the available radiator and fuel tank caps.
I run a 13psi cap, but, when I had my radiator reconditioned I had them test it to 20psi to be sure I had plenty of safety factor.
