Location: Victoria, BC. Canada | Anyone replace the sender unit in the tank?
I tried fixing mine but not much luck. The signal wire had detached (broke off) from the body of the housing the float-arm goes into (with the windings inside).
I managed to get a small nut and bolt/washer through it but don't have good continuity. I may have tightened it too much and buggered the winding where its supposed to contact the terminal inside.
Would prefer to keep my original VDO fuel gauge, so would need to know the ohm's range of the sender-gauge combo.
These specs are not in the parts/service manual. Suppose VDO could help.
There's prolly something out there that would almost bolt in and if someone knows I'd appreciate any info?
Meanwhile I'll keep looking.

Location: Oceanside, CA | I think the stock one was just a 33 or 90ohm sender...you could probably just buy a universal of the same resistance and transfer the electrical pieces over..

VDO tech responded back today and confirmed it's a 10 - 180 ohm gauge & sender.
Actually took my mechanics advice and took the sender apart today. First thing was obvious: the main sender wire had detached from the lower plastic housing. Put a small bolt a screw through to hold it and it appeared okay. Tested the windings for continuity, adjusted the contact spring for a little more tension, cleaned it up then put it back together with a couple of #6 nuts & bolts to hold the steel plate to the plastic housing. Put it back in the coach and now it seems okay.
Time will tell.
