Contributor | Can anyone help me in sharing what GM Steering Column came from the factory on a 1976 FMC? It does not have a key block in the column which leads me to believe it might be out of a 1972 Pick-up? I’m 1973 the trucks had the ignition switch moved from the dash to the column. I also do not know what size steering wheel 14” or 15” that was original, nor the brand, as ours was replaced with a rather unattractive one. I’m trying to replace an aftermarket steering wheel but need this info to get the correct hub and wheel. If anyone could help with even the spline count and diameter and whether or not it has a pin or plunger type horn button, it would be greatly appreciated. The reason I ask the latter is that the coach is not near us for me to measure myself. Thanks for the help.

Elite Veteran Location: Victoria, BC. Canada | Hey welcome! If you don't have the parts/service manuals this will help: http://www.fmcmotorcoach.com/Manuals.html Is your steering column hosed or are you just trying hunt down a new wheel? The horn button is electric: simple steel cap with spring lift under it holding up. Beeps when you push down and ground it out. Drives you fuggin' nuts when working on it. Neighbours will come running thinking something's wrong with all horn blasts! LOL. Terry #846

Extreme Veteran Location: Ignacio Colorado | I thought I had a new one in the golden container but when I took off the bubble wrap it is a Grant 14” leather security wheel. It has a hub with a key allowing you to remove the wheel and lock a cap on the column. Interesting anti theft unit. Had a used original from #412 but it is eluding me. Bill.
