Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Victoria, BC. Canada | Hey, Due to some recent chatter erupting on FBook on the subject of disc brakes on our coaches and out of concern that FBook being what it is and that any useful information departed there - could and most likely will vanish into the ether-world to be lost to present and future coach owners, I thought best to get some of it down here - for posterity. Thanks to Hal St.Clair and Tom Binder for their valuable input here. Many of us in this community have been pursuing the dream of disc-brakes on our coaches for years... many years. Some lucked out and stumbled onto former FMC transit disc brake parts while a very few others went the custom route at the expense of significant time and trouble. I recently asked on FB if anyone had a part number for the transit caliper 'O-ring' as I was considering rebuilding the ones I have. Hal stepped up and provided a part number (Bendix caliper; 2238452-R) he got off a caliper he'd had, which got me looking about online for what I could find. Here's one link I found relative to the part number Hal shared: https://www.millsupply.com/single-piston-caliper-chevrolet-internati... These guys offer pads, calipers, 6-lug rotors etc. NOTE: I have not confirmed fitment yet of any of this stuff. After Hal's contribution to the discussion, Tom Binder chimed-in with what may end up being described as a - bombshell: he provided part numbers for caliper's he's bought recently and has been running on his coach. I'm not going into detail here on this as I don't have time right now, but here's the caliper info he'd provided: caliper: Raybestos FRC4157N and FRC5158N. If by some stroke of good fortune someone else actually reads this and cares to add to it - please do. Terry #846

New user Location: Eastern Oregon | Thanks Terry, Correct part numbers for calipers are Raybestos FRC4157N and FRC4158N. You need two of each to do the complete coach. Brake pads are PN 7081AM and easy to find at NAPA or O'Reilly Auto Parts. I ran across these part numbers on an old work order in my coach's paperwork. Tom

Elite Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Victoria, BC. Canada | Thanks Tom! Now we have it down here, for posterity. As of today there still seems pretty good availability out there on both the caliper and pads. Terry #846

Contributor | Great information! What else is necessary to do a drum to disc brake conversion on our beloved coaches? It would be wonderful to finally get rid of the troublesome system the factory provided. Thanks, Jim #920
