Expert Location: Cottage Grove, OR | It's all set up! The West Coast Fall Rally will be held at the Flying Flags RV Resort Nov 12-14, 2010. This is the same location we used in the fall of '08. It is near a number of places such as the Danish town of Solvang where extra activities can be enjoyed. This is a little North of Santa Barbara and South of Santa Maria/Pismo Beach right adjacent to Hwy 101. The weather in this area is normally great in the fall as we are past the summer heat and not yet to the winter rainy period. The Flying flags RV Resort has a playground for the children and exercise area for pets. Excellent food is withing walking distance. While I attempted to upload the flyer, it is a larger file size than this site allows (that will be corrected on the new website that will be up and running shortly). Please note that you are to call the campground directly to make your reservations. Their website is www.flyingflags.com and the phone number is 877.783.5247 . You are part of the "Greg Miller group". The instructions are in the flyer that is posted in the files section of the Yahoo group (link is on this site's Home Page) or by email from myself or Greg Miller, Western Area VP. After making your reservation, call or email Greg Miller and advise him of your status. It is important that you call and make your reservations soon so that we will all be parked together. The FMC campfire will be provided by myself. See you there!! I have made my reservation. Remember, any questions can be answered by either Greg or myself (916.425.7996). We're rollin', rollin', rollin'!

Expert Location: Cottage Grove, OR | The West Coast Rally was a great success and fun for all! We had 8 FMC coaches, one SOB and one owner attendee for a total of 10 coaches represented. The SOB owner is considering converting to an FMC! The first coach to arrive was #621 carrying Ron and Louise Herbert. They arrived on the Wednesday prior to the rally. Others arrived on Thursday and the rest on Friday - the official start of the rally. Jim Woestman in #617 made it from Carthage, MO a day earlier than expected by arriving on Thursday. Other than Jim and Harry and Sandy Day #400 from Oregon, the rest of the attendees were from California. Their home towns ranged from San Clemente in the south to Los Molinos in the north. We had new coach owners and club members, Gerry and Jim O'Connor #386 of Los Molinos attending their first FMC rally. They just got their coach about 8 weeks prior to the rally. The other new attendee was Michael Firman of Oakley, CA. His coach #270 was up north at home, but he was in the area for work and slipped away long enough on Saturday for a visit. Most of the group had a memorable Saturday as members Frank "Paco" and Mary Lou Ruiz #59 arranged for the group to visit the Fess Parker winery which was nearby. The group didn't waste time doing a tour but just enjoyed sitting in the outdoor tasting area enjoying the many bottles of wine that were brought for the group to taste/drink. Paco had an inside connection as his nephew works for the winery. This helped the group get first class treatment. Thank you Paco!! Back at the Rally site, a few members kept the mechanical discussions going. Later the children enjoyed the pool and other games. In the morning the repair work on 1046's broken stove vent had been started with that continuing into Sunday. Both Friday and Saturday evenings found the group gathered around one or more of the FMC Fire Boxes that were available for use. The Greg Miller's had gotten an upgraded site with a larger "patio" area and the entire group was able to gather there for discussion, eating, visiting, eating, visiting and eating. Food was shared on Friday night and then on Saturday we had a very extensive potluck dinner organized by Louise Herbert with contributions by the rest of the group. It became a diverse and tasty menu! Lot's of eating, visiting, eating and visiting! We had the unique opportunity to have three FMC Fire Boxes available so, liking a good campfire, we got all three of them going at once! It was impressive and we didn't even bubble the paint on Greg Miller coach. The pictures when posted will tell the story! Sunday saw the group starting to leave in various directions for home. A couple of the members stayed over another day. Jim W. had arranged for Eric Whedon to work on his auto AC after the rally so four coaches headed north as a caravan. It was the Millers #708, Woestman #617, Whedon #587, and Heinrichs #1046. At Prunedale, the Millers peeled off and headed home to Boulder Creek and the others continued on to Gilroy. The Day's joined the group at Gilroy the next evening for the two day work day that followed. Again, we all had a great time visiting, eating, visiting, eating and renewing old friendships and making new ones. Be sure to attend any rallies in your part of the country. You will have as fun and informative of a time as we did here out West. See you at the next rally,

Contributor Location: Carthage Missouri | After 3700 happy miles I made it home with my dash air working. Eric #587 worked over two days on it. How many ways can I say thank you to Eric #587 and to Harry #400 who worked on my wiring for a day. I did not complain when Eric #587 left mud foot prints on my roof or when Harry #400 left head blood on the metal part of the drivers seat. Again I thank them both as well as Greg #708 who put on the rally and not to forget Paco #59 for the great wine tour. Ron #621 and I got the coffee going early While Shephen #1046 made great use of his camera. My speed-o meter quit working and my step broke but my #617 ran great getting 10 to 11 mpg while using only 3 quarts of oil with its Detroit 8.2 engine. I will be back for their next rally for a number of good reasons. The most important being communication. Jim Woestman #617 .P.S. I found and extra FMC hat in my coach. My hat in the back had a couple of long silver white hair in it while the had in front must be Harry's #400 even though it didn't have any blood on it. Harry do you want to mail to you or bring it to you at the next rally?
