Subject: Motor Coach Restoration



(174.208.163.108)		Been trying to call this outfit but my calls aren't returned. Does anyone know if they are still in business and if so how do you reach them?

(71.94.238.133)		They are effectively out of business since Les Hoagland passed away. Occasionally Karen, his widow, will randomly return a call but for all practical purposes the business is gone.

Stephen pretty much nailed it; however, I did manage to speak with Chris Hoagland (for over an hour) as I caught him on a rainy day and he was up for a chat.

Chris had to take a full-time job elsewhere to make ends meet so his time for MCR is limited.

You might also try emailing them as I think that's how I got their attention. If the website is still up I think their email address is there.

I know the Revcon folks were out in the cold after 'Marty Moore' passed and no one else was there to take over. The GMC's have quite a network with suppliers on both sides of the country. Just finding a FMC for sale is tough. I'll keep looking, Hal

I watch Cr. List fairly closely to keep an eye on, both, availability and price of these coaches.
Four or five yrs back there'd be an average of 10 to 12 coaches listed on a given day. Not so any more. Now you'd be lucky to see four or five.

I figure either numbers of serviceable coaches have hit that crucial lowest bar that rarity affects availability moreso now, or, people are hoarding them to drive the price up.

If you don't know it already, here's a tip to help you keep a closer eye on Cr. List.

Type this into your browser: fmc motorhome site:craigslist.org

It should bring up every listing in the US & Canada.

Also, watch the 'Traders Market' here on this forum AND the newer Facebook FMC Group as they come up every now and then.

I would also encourage you to determine which style (A-model/J-model) would suit you best before you go after one. Later coaches are generally more sought after (75' & 76' models) as they had some additional upgrades. That said, condition is king and there are some truly nice 73's & 74's out there, too.

(174.208.168.197)		Thank you Terry, that CR link sure makes it easier to search. Found one back east but the guy may have flipped on me. Offered to buy it unseen and that may have spooked him. Looks like a diesel project that he never got working too well. We'll see...
I'm trying to find a later unit that I'll convert to a Duramax/Allison. Just have to wait till one comes along I guess.

(71.94.238.133)		If your are going to convert a coach to a Duramax Allison set up do NOT change the differential. It is perfectly matched to the 6 speed Allison for gearing and flexibility. Both Len and I have the experience with it to confirm how well it functions under all circumstances.
