Seriously considering joining the "Mountain States" group for your rally. Will be in touch. I have revisited the Google Earth presentation and am considering a northern route to get there and a southern route back home. Need to get the AC working better, but Eric is helping me with that.

Jim, what is the estimated driving time from Sacramento area to the Rally location using I-80 to Reno and then switching over to Hwy 50 east of Reno and continuing east to I-15 and then switching to Hwy 70 and on to the rally location? We will leave Saturday morning and head east and spend the night when we get tired. Unlikely, but if we can leave friday evening we will spend night in Reno and then head east.

hmm, mapquest suggests I-80 to Wyoming, and then south on I-25. It's 1080 miles from Reno to Cheyenne, and then 160 miles to Colorado Springs.

Even if I specify Glenwood Springs on I-70, mapquest suggests I-80 to Salt Lake then US 6 south.

Regardless of how you get to Glenwood Springs, when you get to Brekenridge, turn south on route 9, over hossier pass, and meet route 24 in Hartsel. That is a much easier way to Colorado Springs from the west because you avoid Denver. It's prettier too.

Jim,

I have sent you an email with a route using US 50 and then on I-70 to Grand Junction and then dropping south and coming into Colorado Springs and the campground from the West. Mapquest says my route is 1200 miles and 20 hours. Averaging 60 mph in the mountains with a new engine seems unrealistic. I will have to be easy on the throttle so it will be interesting to see how long it takes. I guess we will get there when we get there!

I just thought of something. Between me and the rally are the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the Rocky Mountain range: the two tallest mountain ranges in the United States!

So, you will be coming thru some of the most wonderous territory in the World.

And your FMC will handle the road as long as you keep it between the lines.

If you are looking for scenery, I would DEFINITELY try to go thru Glenwood canyon. That streatch of I-70, which was reengineered about twenty years ago, is breathtaking.

Stay on I-70 until you get to Frisco, go south on Route 9 thru Breck to Hartsel and turn east on Route 24.

Jim, etal -

I just got the word from the Doctor they have found the 7th & 8th cancer sites.

I will go into radiation treatment on August 8th - so I will be unable to attend Rally.

My only chance for survival is the radiation treatment now and for it to be a success.

My thoughts will be with you in Colorado - I so wanted postponement until after Rally - BUT it is not to be.

Thank You so much.

I believe your prayers, from all around North America, have allowed me to prevail over the 10 cancers in the last 6 1/2 years.

Jim Evans,

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that Jane and I will not be at the rally. We have been looking forward to attending and I made considerable adjustments at work to facilitate the trip which we were going to extend to include swinging south through NM and AZ on into southern California before returning home. The southern California portion will now be done via an airplane day trip.

As you know, my coach has been at RVS for an engine rebuild after it overheated as a result of a water pump failure last May. I was assured that the work would be completed in a timely manner. That did not occur and when what would normally be a minor problem occurred at the last minute in the afternoon of Thursday (Aug. 2), there just wasn’t any time left to deal with it and our coach remains at RVS. As a result our trip and participation in the rally has to be cancelled.

I was very excited about the prospect of seeing you again, meeting your famous wife and children, seeing Jim S. and Bill R. again, meeting Bill Sitton and his wife and family in person and getting to know others that I haven’t met yet. I was especially excited about the news that a Duramax powered coach would be there as I am considering that as a future repowering option. I was anxious to get in the drivers seat and give it a test drive. I will now stay home and clean the garage.

Please give my regrets to all in attendance. You are hereby authorized to give any prepaid tickets to anyone that can use them. This includes members of the group or others as you feel is appropriate. Make someone’s day with an unexpected pleasant surprise.

As I said on the Yahoo Site, it is with deep regret I learn of your delay.

Maybe at the next Rally I can have my cancer under control and you will have your restoration complete.

Well Jim, you did it again! Here I was feeling sorry for myself for not being able to attend the Colorado Mountain Rally and you go and create a great video of the rally and now I feel even worse!

All kidding aside, you have done a fantastic job of creating a fantastic video. I have already watched it several times.

It is ironic, at the least, that I posted the video address to Yahoo and neglected to post it here!!! DUH!

Here it is!

Thanks StePHan!
