Hello! I am the new owner of a FMC which is likely one of the converted bus versions. It has no drivers door and has the Allison trans. Coach #826.
Right now it is still located at the home of the person I bought it from. BTW is anyone interested in towing or hauling it from MO to IN? It is listed at Uship and was booked for transport, but that provider flaked out. Relisted at Uship, but now bids yet. Shaft has been removed to disconnect drive wheels from tranny, so it could be towed with the rear on the pavement. Not running obviously, or I would have driven it home..
Looking forward to getting it home to start on the new project! Just finishing up on a Winnebago LeSharo, which will be ready for sale in a few weeks...
Will probably keep the FMC after the rejuvenation.

You're probably going to be looking at no less than $3.50 a mile to move it.

Transport from MO to IN (500mi) ended up at $800- $1.60/mile.

Very disappointed in the overall condition. Will likely part it out as the amount of time, money, and effort will be VERY high before it is good to go.

Has good windshield and rear glass. Other components to be tested ; rooftop air, furnace, range, water heater, generator etc.
Good chance that I may keep the Onan gen.

This unit has the Allison 4sp trans. Eng. and trans--unknown condition.

If anyone is interested in this thing, let me know. Not sure when I'll start removing parts, but would like to get it out of here and move on the next project

I expect to take a bath on this thing if I sell it as is or part it out. Getting it out of here before I start putting more time and effort into it is worth something to me.

Well...you got a great deal on the shipping at least.
I'd recommend taking a bunch of pictures of inside and out and starting a photo album. You might be surprised at how some of the small items bring some money back to you.

Wow! The change in the air from post one to post three! Sorry someone lied about the condition....Another failed internet purchase...Happens all the time. I agree with Len, if you have a place to keep it and part it out, please do. Maybe another one will show up locally for you to grab? Would like to see some pics also...

Still waffling about getting rid of it, or tackling the project. I will try to evaluate the engine and tranny before making a final decision. I really like the size. Nice to be able to walk around without stooping.
If I can fix the brakes and get the engine running, There is a good chance I will keep it and do a complete make over of the interior. btw, does anyone know what kind of master cylinder I should shop for? This one was left dry with the cover off. I know I can't just walk into a parts store and ask for one to fit a 75 FMC bus!!

Welcome to the FMC Brotherhood!

You'd be surprised how many parts a good parts guy can scrounge up for you. You just need to do a little digging, that's all.

Before (read: before) I bought my coach I went here - https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/FMCMotorCoach/conversations/mess... - and joined up and read nearly 10,000 previous posts and learned a crap-ton about these coaches from current, previous and deceased owners who did and still do graciously share what they've learned about FMC Motorcoaches.

Most every member of the club on this Forum will also help answer your questions, too. However, you will find answers to most of your questions have already been published here or on the Yahoo site. All you have to do is look. If you can't find it, ask.

I have learned that owning these wonderful old machines is a labour of Love and if you are not passionate about it, it will be tough for you to justify the work and resources you will have to invest in it to keep it roadworthy.

Always something to do on them.

Whichever way you go, good luck and welcome to the Group.

Ok, new master cylinder installed, brakes bled etc. Engine turns over by putting power directly to the starter. Propeller shaft re-installed. Generator turns over.
Most may already know this, but the bus has an Allison 4 spd. tranny with the engine/transmission mounted in-line. Also has disc brakes.
Wiring is a mess on this guy. Manuals from FMC site are not very helpful as the bus is very different (especially this one).
I'll take some pics and see if anyone has any insight on sorting out the wiring mess. I've seen some tangled head scratchers in my time, but this one takes the cake..
I should get some fuel in it, get some spark going and see if the engine is going to run, before putting too much time into the wiring...

If it looks anything like this: http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=127&p...
then you have your work cut out for you..
