I'm going to replace the 3 oil seals on my Rockwell before the engine/trans go in.

Looked on the FMC Parts manual and sure enough there's some numbers in there for the 2 different seals (input has one number and the 2-propshafts have another); however, they take me no where online to reference a source for them.

Anyone got part numbers for these oil seals?

Thanks in advance!

Forgot to ask if anyone else out there has done these 3 seals on their own? Not much luck in finding a shop here on the Island so far it seems.

I'm guessing you'd need some sort of puller/pusher/basher tool etc?

Going to move the diff forward a couple of inches while I'm at it to buy a little wiggle room for the Cummins.

Thanks!

I replaced an output seal on #850. It’s in my photo album with the part number. You don’t need anything special other than your finger between the hammer Terry.

Okay Dan'O... had a look at the pic you referred to in your #850 album.

http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=112&p...

Am I pretty much 'nailing it' if I figure that it don't matter how much the old seal gets buggered when you get it out of there, BUT, is does matter that the new one goes in flat and evenly without getting dented-up?

Was looking at those part numbers and it seems there's a bunch of cross-overs on these seals; especially, if you look at all the choices on the site that Lou referred me to:

Output shaft seals: http://www.kakapart.com/oem/partscrossinterchange/rockwell-a1205l76...

Input shaft seal: http://www.kakapart.com/oem/partscrossinterchange/rockwell-a1205k63...

Regardless, thanks to all!

You can pry the old seal out with a bar. Tapping in the new seal is easy with a large faced Thor type sledge hammer. The seal sets flush with the casting. You could use a large socket also. The only problem I ran into was getting the yoke nut loose. I had to heat it with a torch. Then it came loose no problem.

K. Got it. Thanks.

When I get it done I'll let you know. Maybe post a pic or two of my swollen finger!

Make sure and get good quality seals...I replaced the input yoke(National brand) seal when I did the swap only to have to change it again 150miles later with the Meritor(Rockwell) numbered seal..

HELP!

So I finally got some time to have a go at doing the seals on Rockwell.

Got my seals:

2x CR-27526
1x CR-22425

They appear to be correct.

Figured I'd start with the drive shaft pinion seal first.

Popped the yoke off to discover that the seal is installed from the inside of the outer pinion cover; mine's held on with 10 or so 5/8" hex bolts. Zapped them off with my new Milwaukee M18 1/2" impact wrench (best tool I ever owned) only to discover that the entire pinion shaft assembly comes out with the cover attached.

My question is: do I need a press or puller of some sort to get the cover off the shaft so I can get at the seal?

Started to wonder if maybe I have a different diff? Does my diff differ?

Here's a pic of the front and the tag.

http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=191&p...

I'll look through the manual to see what I can cross reference to confirm, but meanwhile I thought I'd ask here, too.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Found this with good info on doing the Rockwell F140 pinion oil seal.

Not sure how to save and share a pdf doc. But if you copy paste the following it take you to the link to see the pdf.

'Single reduction differential carriers Rockwell pdf'
