I thought I'd try an experiment, I found some large 5" patches on Amazon (I could have just used 3 1/2" patches). | You can see the (aged/deteriorated) rubber at the valve stem hole. I cleaned up the patch area an applied some cement. | New patch with a hole for the valve stem | Here we are now inflated to 65 psi, you can see the rubber patch laying flat (for now). The crack you see in the red is just the patch label/sticker. My goal with this is to buy time before needing to purchase new flaps, or going another route for a while....I was contemplating on sticking a piece Eternabond tape over top of patch for possibly protecting the rubber from the elements? The patch will probably deteriorate like the flap...not sure. I've got 4 more tires to do before the October rally... |

At first I thought they were part of the inner bearing coming apart or something, then I looked a little closer and realize they are rivet heads from my brake linings...had a loose shoe! | This in under the forward dinette seat. My extra/spare parts storage. I have a water pump, all radiator hoses, belts, brake parts, some bearings, fuel line and filter, hydrovac parts, tube repair items engine gaskets and more.
