Recently Greg Miller FMC #708 got several FMC Owners to join him getting NEW FMC Brake Drums made by Durabrake. I got a pair. There are pictures and measurements -
http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/photo-thumbnails.asp?albumid...
of one of those new drums. I made a mess of the order they are in the album, as I couldn't rearrange them like I have done before, so you may have to go back and forth on the two pages. I hope the pictures and measurements will be useful even if you are measuring your "old" drums.

Add what ever Comments you think are appropriate, but perhaps any QUESTIONS/ANSWERS (by anybody) should be entered here in this Message Topic.

The NEW Brake Drums do NOT come with studs, hubs, or BALANCING. But they come machined at the minimum inner diameter (14.1+ inch) to accept a new set of shoes that are supposed to be 14.125 (14-1/8th) inch. The last picture shows that measurement using a precision scale, as I only have a 12 inch caliper. Kinda tricky to just hook it on one side and swing the arc back and forth on the other side trying to figure the max diameter. If anyone that has one of the NEW Durbrake Drums please use what ever other method or tool you have to verify my 14.1+ SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess).

So what is the cost and turn around time for getting the new drums delivered?

The cost was $400/drum plus tax. The minimum order when I originally placed the order was 8 drums. It ended up taking 5 months to get the actual drums in hand, even if the original estimate was 3 months.

. . . and they will probably never be that cheap again. DuraBrake does not sell direct. You have to find one of their "Dealers" to make the Order. So . . . tax, license, delivery, preparation charges . . . Lou #120.

Contact Bill Sitton on the traders forum and see his thread about parts. The container included some new, machined but undrilled brake drums.

They are new but not machined or drilled. I have the machining specs. One of these is pictured in the photo album Lou uploaded. The raw casting next to a used rear drum and hub.
