Hi, the existing rear tail lights on my FMC are beyond restoration. The lens, brackets, sockets, bezels, and wiring plugs are all shot. Does anyone know of a suitable new led rear lighting assy. that would fit? I don't want to dramatically change the look and don't want to resize the existing fiberglass cutouts. Thanks in advance everyone

Hello Charlie,
Google GROTE tail lights.
52082 Raised
52002 Flush
52112 Flush w/yellow (left ?)
52122 Flush w/yellow (right ?)
There may be others . . .

See Figure 4-19 - http://www.fmcmotorcoach.com/files/Parts_manual/4_Automotive_Electr...
They were "some way" held in with wood blocks and goo, on the INSIDE. Mine push right in after 45 years.
New ones will require 6 screw holes thru the F-glass and screws/nuts, or screws into a threaded strip top and bottom, or "other" to hold in the "3 light assembly".
Please take some pictures and share how you mount them.

I have all red lenses for my 52002s and a sequential 123, 123, 123, directional turn signal magic box I bought at Goodguys like the OLD T-Birds and the NEW Mustangs. But not installed yet.
I'll figure out something else for back up lights . . . but they will be BRIGHTER than the stock FMC had . . . MUCH BRIGHTER !

Oh, put in (2 element one brighter than the other, 2 contact, one socket sleeve pin up, one pin lower) RED LED Bulbs. The red led really shows BRIGHTER thru a Red Lens. The Yellow or Amber bulbs thru yellow lens . . . not so much. (I tested both). I bought the Cheap ones mailed (about a week) from China. They are just fine, and really what everyone sells here at a higher price.

I used the 52082 Grotes, about $100 shipped. White plastic triple mount. Chrome are on Amazon.

Simple to install. Had to buy led bukbs separate.

I am about to put up what I did with my FMC, everything including headlights are now LED... I did find this, if it helps.

http://www.led4rv.net/FindP_STT-Monarch.php

I did NOT go with this. I did try with some success to use a set of waterpoof LED trailer tail lites. I had to cut disect the housings, but they worked out quite well. The shape was nearly identical, and with a bit of work I got it to go. In the end, the wife said no as she did not like the obvious LED pattern, so I ended up polishing up my original housing and getting some JDM Astar blulbs (I had to buy new sockets as mine were shot). Anyway, happy to show you the dissection version if you want it.

Thanks Lou, Mine were held in with an aluminum bar on the back side of each. I did have that diagram out as the previous owner would splice any color or gauge he had on hand when making repairs, pet peeve of mine, what good is a wiring diagram if the colors don't match lol. I used colored pencils to color the entire wiring diagram for the coach after taping all the pages together to make one. Seems like I'm grabbing it all the time and the colors sure helps to avoid sparks lol. Looks like the 002 tail lights are about 1/8" thinner, without actually seeing them hard to choose but both look good, thanks for all he info and ideas, Charlie

Thanks all. Two companies claimed they had them but then refunded me saying they no longer stock them. I did find 2 places-one was on Ebay that had one each in stock which I ordered. A few had a wait of 2 to 3 months which meant the Alibaba straight from China routine

The biggest joy I'm finding so far is continuing to discover how overbuilt this thing is everytime I tear into something. I want to maintain the look inside and out right down to the burnt orange interior but every thing else is subject to modification/removal. Mostly just removing unnecessary components, brackets, parts, accessories, addons, etc. I weigh and photograph everything I take off and have recently passed 1000 lb mark and just getting started

Removed 1000 lbs . . . and just getting started ? Man oh man, I am looking forward to that list !!!
When Ford came out with their "military grade" aluminum pickup . . . I saved a magazine or some group interview with the designated Chief Engineer for that Ford Truck. Among the things he said . . . that due to better computer vehicle simulation . . . their data showed that a 10% weight reduction resulted in a 7% decrease in full driving cycle fuel consumption. About a year later, my puter went into the Bill Gates self destruct mode and I have not been able to find that link anyplace since. If anyone has that link or some other Ford info that supports that 10% weight gets 7% fuel . . . PLEASE share.
Buy many air, boat, and car racers, airplane and airplane engine makers, and Hot Rodders have known such improvement was available as they tried to go faster. BUT, it also applies when you want to go farther . . .
Unfortunately Conservation of Energy, explained by all those old guys like Bernoulli, Leibniz, Newton, and Joule among others, shows that the opposite is true as well. 10% weight increase will get you about the same 7% increase in fuel consumption.
If you want to decrease your fuel consumed . . . ADD LIGHTNESS !

LOL well I did get one ordered from Amazon-they only had one so ordered another from Ebay. Go the one from Amazon but the Ebay one got "delivered" to Sherman, TX??? I live in Nixa MO! The seller says the Post Office mis-delivered it and he will refund my money but now it says he's unavailable. So now I have to find a 52082 to match the one I already have. Just ordered another one from A Walmart second party seller for 78 bucks, will see if it's to good to be true even at that price. I should of checked the Grote website first, if I had known these were discontinued I would have gone with something else
