(172.113.81.26)

Yesterday I purchased 0487 off of a Facebook Marketplace listing and will be picking it up in two to three weeks.

I've posted a video walkaround on my YouTube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP-Aw4tAasI

Here are a few high-res still photos I took yesterday when I purchased the coach.

http://imageevent.com/mmm_mag/1974fmc2900rmotorhome

I would have posted them here but my browser isn't cooperating.

At some point soon I will be looking for a passenger-side windshield, which I expect to be pricey. If anyone has one available, please contact me at autotraveler1154@gmail.com.

I am an automotive journalist so I'm looking forward, now that I am an FMC owner, contributing to the written materials database and the history of these ahead-of-their-time motorhomes.

If there are any FMC owners that want to contact me, especially if you live in Southern California, please reach out to me at the email address above.

Hi Richard,
Welcome to the FMC family! I am sure that you will be enjoying your FMC for a long time. I have had mine for 18 years and still enjoy it very much. There is a great opportunity to meet and visit with other FMC owners at the upcoming rally in Felton, CA. The particulars are in this thread: http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1077&pos...

I will be emailing you separately,

I didn't figure that coach would last long at that price. I think you got a good deal on that rig! Welcome!

Dan, go look at the photos in my photo album of when I was doing my conversion. The engine I took out with about 10,000 miles on a fresh rebuild is the engine in this coach as the then current owner blew his engine and so he bought mine to replace it. The switch was made while the coach was in Hanford, California.

I know, its not the same as seeing it in the coach!

Interesting bunch of relays below the isolator, and other "electric" running into a fat cable end above the ONLY red thing in the picture (except for two dirty red cables coming off the isolator) . . .
Wonder if the front still has engine driven AC ? Engine AC Compressor still belted and hosed . . .

Automotive/engine driven AC will not be working as the condensers are no longer on the roof. The compressor is probably there to act as the third pulley on the alternator belt.

Stephen,

As much as I would like to come to the rally, I won't be picking my coach up until the following weekend, most likely Sunday. I had hoped to get it into the vintage RV show concurrent to Palm Springs Modernism week, the weekend of the 23rd and 24th, but that probably won't happen either as they have no space. If something opens up, the organizers will tell me.

I considered flying up to San Jose for the day but haven't been able to find any reasonable airfares. If anything happens this week, I'll let you know as I would love to meet the owners and get some video and photos. If anyone in the club who will be there, I invite them to reach out to me. I can tell them what I am looking for. In poking around on the web, I haven't found anything quite like this,

https://automotivetraveler.com/magazine/viewer.php?path=2011/04/GMC_Motorhomes

that I wrote some years ago on the history of the GMC MotorHomes.

I realize you may be busy but if you can call me tonight or over the weekend (I think you have my number through Facebook Messenger) I'd love it if you would call. I have tons of questions to ask you.

Have a great weekend,

Richard Truesdell

That link you posted is «off».

Is this the tight one?

We are excited to have just purchased our FMC from Counts Kustoms in Las Vegas. I don’t know the number of the coach since it’s in transit. Here are our first pics of the coach.

Pictures won't post in the forum area (I don't know why we can't make that work), the "Albums" function at the upper right hand corner of this page will take you to a section that allows you to create a photo album, be sure and resize you images down to limited size allowable...many folks get tripped up on that.
