Compartment key problem solved, now needing information about replacing ignition switch since I have no key for it either. Any recommendations for a new or replacement switch before I take it apart? Thanks

with a special THANK YOU to Kjetil (Duramaxer on this website) for making that Website available for EVERYONE.
The SEARCH feature of this and many other "vehicle" websites . . . is YOUR FRIEND. Please use it first as MANY FMC issues have already been asked and resolved.
Please remember . . . you are now the OWNER of a vehicle that was designed and made 45 years ago, has had at least one other Owner before you got it. and may or may not be the same as it was made by FMC in San Jose Ca. It may have been modified by a PO (Previous Owner).

Your not going to ask about each and every part of your FMC . . . one at a time . . . are you ?
We, at least I, expect you to look for parts and try to solve YOUR FMC issues by looking thru the Parts Books, Service Manuals, Owners Manual, and ALL the pictures and discussion about FMCs on this website.
Then if you still don't have an idea about what part, system, operation, etc. then bring it up and we, at least I, will help you if we/I can.

Welcome to the Wunnerful FMC World !

It is a standard ignition switch available at most auto part stores.

Sorry about the question. Did a search in the forum and couldn't find any information or photos.

I do realize that its 45 year old, but I have about a dozen vehicles older, and changed many ignition switches on my vehicles in the past. Just thought there might be a certain type or a recommendation as to what would work better for this particular vehicle. Don't worry, won't ask about each and every part...one at a time as two questions is obviously 2 too many.

You asked two questions . . . no background, no mention of using the Search feature, nor any mention of what you know about vehicles, old or new.
Since you have changed many ignition switches in the past, you should have recognized the FMC ignition switch as a "standard ignition switch" available at NAPA or other fine Auto Parts Store near you. Part Number POL- LS103 is right there in the Parts Manual Figure 4-13, Item 16. (POL is Pollack, still in business, still selling that switch) or get the NAPA copy - https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_S68213
Don't get your feelings hurt. I meant what I said . . . WELCOME !

Yea . . . even if no one answers.
But if someone does and you don't like the answer . . . don't read it.

Agree with Mr. Stephen, we are all here to assist anybody and everybody, some of us (me)
don't have a college degree (shade tree mechanic only) so we can only help a little bit, based on
our own mistakes, upgrades and or personal way of doing the upgrades, and is always done
in a free voluntary basis.

Attending the FMC Rally's, as many as economically possible, has also giving us a better
physical view of some great upgrades and a chance to meet great people that share the
same or greater enthusiasm about these wonderful machines.
