I am in the middle of replacing ball joints and tie rod ends. I can't find info on torque specs for either one. Does anyone know what they are?
Also for toe adjustments i have two service bulletins with the same dates,(18 sept 1974) one says toe-out fwd dimension 3/8s inch more than aft dimension,
the other says toe-in fwd dimension 1/16 inch less than aft dimension. Not sure what to do.
What is the correct toe specs?
Thanks

Answers to your questions are available at http://www.fmcmotorcoach.com/index.html. which includes ball joint bolt specs.
Review SB 2907-4002 (Sept 74) for Coaches #0 to #645.
Review SB 2907-4003 (Mar 75) for Coaches #646 and up.
Use SB 2907-1007 (Oct 77) for ALL Coaches.
You, of course, will have to determine what Serial # YOUR FMC is.
It is common to identify location, then count the number of turns used to remove rod ends and install new items using those same turns at each same location to get close to what it was, then fine tune alignment with all the "new" parts.
Turning plates and spindle mount alignment tools are VERY helpful.

(Personal comment - You can't have enough caster, especially in a FMC. Adjust all you can into it. Caster is what makes it go straight, and Power Steering allows you to climb/lift the whole front end to turn either way. Driving around for 25 miles every time you want to check or adjust ? Park it on some level hard surface, fill front water tanks, get some friends to stand on and bounce the front bumper up and down a few times, and get at it !)

Thanks Lou,
For some weird reason the paper work that came with mine (#460) had two SB 2907 40002 sept , 00001 to 00645 written out with specs for both. One was correct the second set didn't identify that is was for after 645 but had the same header and date. I somehow ended up with a misprinted SB.

We have not succeeded in solving all your problems.
The answers we have found only serve to raise a whole new set of questions.
In some ways, we feel we are confused as ever, but we believe we are now cornfused on a higher level and about more important things.
The Management.

You are learning. NEVER assume your FMC is stock and anything you have ever read, including Chiseled In STONE Service Bulletins handed down from On High, apply to it.
Some of what I tell you . . . is true ! Lou #120
