So I finally relented and decided to reuse the Donaldson; however, it will be installed with a lighter mount assembly.

While cleaning it out today to get it ready for paint, I found myself unable to understand how the incoming water (rain) gets channeled to the drip nipple on the bottom.

I concluded there must be a mistake in the assembly and went ahead and made a simple correction.

Anyhow its done and is what it is.

Prolly screwed it up as its likely got something to do with air-swirl inside the can or something otherworldly.

Any thoughts or explanations welcomed.

Forgot to mention I stumbled on this.

https://www.airfilter-crossreference.com/convert/DONALDSON/P118159

There's 13 cross references for the P118159 Donaldson cartridge.

Googled it and a whole whack of 'Made in China' ones popped up. Likely all made there regardless but way too many choices.

Anyone got a suggestion to a good one and where to get it?

Thanks,
Terry

Don’t drill holes in the filter housing. That rubber «thingy» on your Donaldson is not a simple water drain. It is a “vactuator”

On FMCMOTORCOACH.com I have shared the technical bulletins, also the one on the Donaldson filter;

More explanations on the vactuator here; https://www.donaldson.com/en-be/engine/filters/technical-articles/va...

Figured I had it coming.

Will plug holes.

Thanks Kjetil!
