Location: Lavallette, NJ 08735 | Hello, all. I have no spare tire mount for #75. I think (based on worn area of rear bumper) that it was originally mounted left rear bumper. Would anyone out there have an original mount (for anywhere on coach); or suggestions for effectively getting it off the middle of the floor when I travel? Thanks! Robert |

Location: Cottage Grove, OR | FMC - 2014-11-08 5:02 AM Thanks for having the confidence in me to figure it out myself... Here is a link to photos of the original spare tire mounting mechanism. It clamps to the bumper and can be on either the front or the rear bumper. In these photos it is on the front of the coach. It is spring assisted so when you lower the tire, it comes down to the ground and the mount then latches. You then remove the tire and wheel. When you reattach the tire/wheel you unlatch it and then raise it up with the spring assisting. It then latches in the up position. These photos are in the photo gallery section of this website. This unit was not manufactured by FMC. It was supplied by an outside vender and was used on many different coaches and other vehicles. http://www.fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/photo-thumbnails.asp?albumid=57 If you want to purchase one, place a "wanted" notice in the "Trader" section of this website. You can also do some web searching and/or eBay searching. I do not have a brand name of the unit. Many coaches, including mine, have been converted to a swing out version. With that one, you have to lift the tire/wheel up but it swings out of the way for better access to the rear engine compartment door. |

Location: Lavallette, NJ 08735 | As always, exactly the info I was hoping to find, thank you. Now I know what I'm looking for. It's always a pleasure getting replies, sans the pompous, elitist, condescending tone that seems to permeate; when the all-knowing, with no useful info (not serving his ego) expert, chimes in... |

Location: Ignacio Colorado | The spare tire mount I have from #902 is very similar to the one in Stephen's pictures. The problem is they were not made to fit both front and rear bumpers. The one pictured has been modified to fit the point of the bumper. Stock they will only fit on a straight portion of the bumper. Note how at the outer edge of the portion that fits over the top of the bumper, it is deeper on the outer corners and is somewhat V shaped to allow for the curve in the front bumper at the center. I tried mine and found this out. When I said mine was similar, I mean it is the same other than the lip over the bumper. Not apples and oranges. Bill Sitton |

Location: Victoria, BC. Canada | What Bill says is likely true Rob, but I managed to mount mine on the front regardless; I wanted it there to get more weight forward. There's a pic of it in the photo section on the Yahoo site. The one with the Canuck flag vinyl wheel-cover. BTW: I have a good contact to get you one of these covers made if you need it (under $100.00).
We've already broached this topic but be forewarned: the SS bumpers on an FMC are extremely hard steel. I toasted 3 drill bits (3/8" to drill 4-holes. But it worked. If I did it again, I'd go 1/2".
Good luck.
