I there any recommended cleaner/polisher for the exterior surface. It look like it has oxidized and needs taking care of so any suggestions would be helpful. Its #981 and is in pretty good shape.
Thanks

Every year or three, i go over the exterior with "Nu-Finish" brand car wax. Over the years, with my other vehicles, i have found this product stands up to the hype in the commercial: goes on fast, and comes off clean (the latter being my negative experience with other products I've tried). When you are waxing thirty feet of coach, time is a factor; usually takes me most of an afternoon to rub down the whole thing two or three times.

This is an age old question in the forums, and it certainly does depend on your exterior material and condition. Even if it's the original fiberglass, i have heard that this wax produces superior results. My own coach (originally the stock mustard yellow) was painted white/blue in the late 80's, and except for a little blistering, the paint is still in pretty good shape (I’ve owned it over 10 years).

Small caveat: When there is nothing left mechanically to spend money on, i am going to treat the coach to a new paint job ;-)

I also use Nu-Finish. It does an excellent job.

Steven,
Which Nu Funish do you use as I have not been able to find wax? Should I start with their cleaner then the polish?
Thanks
David

I do not use wax. I have not used the cleaner, just the polish. The original finish is a gel coach. My coach was painted at some point prior to my owning it. Try just the polish on an area and see how it goes. if it needs more, then use the cleaner first and then the polish.

Remember: there is no substitute for elbow grease, but I feel the NuFinish minimized the elbow grease.

I have been using Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax on my cars for several years so I started using it on the coach. It has DuPont Imron paint that is probably 15 years old. It had been sitting unused for 8-10 years before I bought it 04/07. Mothers cleaned it up nice and it looks pretty good, some places have faded but overall its ok. Once a year in the spring I use Mothers, a Porter-Cable dual action buffer and plenty of elbow grease. Takes me most of a week, 2-3 hours a day. I may go over it with NuFinish when I get through. It sure seems to run better with a coat of wax. It's raining now, like how it beads up.

For those anxiously awaiting the unscientific results of NuFinish polish over recent Mothers Carnauba Cleaner wax - I found it does enhance the shine. I did not do the whole coach, just the stripes and the blackout treatment. This fall I will clean it really well and go over it with NuFinish. I also use it for streaks, leaf stains and such. Easy, quick and does a good job. Denny
