Just a standard Converter, but you could get a nice high performance one... Look at Jegs and see what your wallet will handle.

I suggest a Hughes Part # 24 TOW (TowMaster) Converter -
https://www.google.com/search?q=Hughes+24+TOW+Torque+Converter&rlz=1...
Price varies . . . Saw one @ $285 with F$hip . . . but seller encouraged "make Offer" !

BUT,

you also have to have a 11" flex plate (11" Bolt Circle) FLEX PLATE to go with it -
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=11...
The simple square shaped ones are just fine.

You probably have a 10" flex plate on your FMC.

Do NOT buy a High Stall TQ, or higher leverage shift lever, or quick shift kit . . . the FMC is NOT a race car and it will never fly . . . Wings are too short.

You should also consider a Kit that allows the pump to keep the TQ full when in PARK. The Stock FMC 727 does not do that.

Get home before it gets COLD again . . .

Hi Lou, no haven't located the Converter yet. I have sent a few emails out to manufactures with now results. The disaster has turned off many phones. I will see if I can order one this week.

"no haven't located the Converter yet."
"I can order one this week."
So you do know what you want.
You just haven't looked for it.
I understand now.

I did find the converter. for reference it is a 359 torque converter with 4 bolts on the bottom that connects to the flex plate. I hope that helps of few owners. Next I need a source reference for other parts like a set of belts for my 440. Is there anyone out there that works on FMC mostly anymore like the RVS Cop out of Morgan Hill CA or the Motor Coach Restoration. These companies aren't a support source anymore I wonder who picked up the ball or is there a reference parts list to source with current suppliers?

I ran a #359 converter for some time in my #902 coach. It has a higher stall than the stock unit I replaced. I’ll check for a stamped number on the original.

My FMC PO kept immaculate records. I have at least 5 large binders full of his documentation (although not one of his wiring of the House / inverter switch). Anyway, your mileage will vary on this but here are the cross reference numbers I have... I do know I have a different belt tensioner pulley (not sure if the size changed) and a different power steering pump (again, unsure if there was a pulley change).

Transmission update. I have the forged crank still in my engine that is why I have the 359 converter. If you have the cast yours should be the 904. I rebuilt the transmission not without difficulty. The Old transmission was shot. The case was shot and sprag locked up. Looked like the previous builder forgot to put in an output shaft washer. So the retainer nut wasn't torx to specs. Therefore the shaft gained increase in play and eventually caused the sprag rollers to turn and lock up. I put in lots of up grades. The difficulty was sourcing parts. Took 2.5 weeks and disassembly of 2 other transmissions. The final hurdle was finding a rear housing bearing. I am still waiting for on to come to be delivered. Lastly, someone toss out my parking brake shoes. I can't find a cross reference for them. Has anyone ordered a set and know of a cross reference number. Or have documentation from a repair that list them. I did find a set of forklift shoes that come close. Also on the belts. The alternator compressor belt is the only belt still in the system. All other reference numbers are not traceable. I did use a rope to get length of the others. I will let you know what I find out.

It’s usually a bad (increased rpm) shift from neutral to drive that takes out the one way sprag you found torn up. Not a loose yoke. The sprag parts are replaceable.
I have a set of park brake shoe cores you can get linings put on. Also have a set with new lining.

Hi Bill, it's been a while. I found and modified a set of forklift shoes that were almost an exact match. I still would like your set of shoes if you have them. My new issue was replacing the AC clutch. I found a match for the 1411-18. Ran into a snag putting on the power steering pump belt. Discovered that I needed to take off the fan and fan pullys to get it on. However not sure how to adjust the belt. Any ideas? I am going to try to remove the pump to install and tighten.
