I think a lot of people are afraid of scammers, they don't recognize a scam even if it hits them in the face. I've been buying and selling on CL since it's conception, easiest way I found to eliminate the BS, is put a certain word related to the add (that I choose) for the potential buyer to use in the reply. Oh, and don't put your phone number on CL, just use email. Seems to work for me. Whenever I put my phone number on there, I get spam idiots, then you get robo calls coming in...etc

Yep, I buy and sell on CL all the time(all my current vehicles are CL purchases) and Facebook Marketplace (which I've come to prefer). You do have filter out the BS that's for sure.. I use text as well simply because there are a huge group of younger buyers that don't even maintain email addresses, they live there whole lives off their phone number..
But, I'm also one of those people who never (ever) answers their phone, if you want to talk to me you will leave a voice mail or it isn't going to happen.
