Due to popular demand, the next West Coast Rally will be held at Casey's Riverside RV Park in West Fir, Oregon.

It is a nice, small RV park alongside the Willamette river. We have had two prior rallies at this location and everyone has liked the setting. The following is the link to the park: http://www.caseysrvpark.com .

The town of Oakridge is two miles away with restaurants, stores, motels, etc.. There are no cabins at the park so if coming without an RV of some type, you will need to make a reservation at one of the motels in Oakridge.

I have reserved 10 spaces at the park. They are clustered at the lower end of facility. The spaces are 57-61, 63-64, and 66-68. These are all back in spaces but if you need a pull through, those are also available nearby but I have not reserved any of them. The map of the park is easily viewable on the parks website which is linked above. I have already claimed space #60 which is one of the spaces that looks out at the river.

While the rally schedule is for three nights (arrive on Friday and leave on Monday), we want you to come even if you can only be there for one or two nights. Day visitors are also welcome! There is one primary fire ring next to the pavilion provided by the park and fires are restricted to that ring. I will have firewood available for fires! It is Oregon so the possibility of rain exists even though the rally dates are before our normal rainy period. One or more popups will be setup at the rally and there is a covered facility at the park that can be used as well.

I am still finalizing things with the park, but I believe everyone should make their reservations directly with the park at 541-782-1906. A small deposit will hold your site. The park rates are $45 per night for the river view sites and if we have 10 or more attendees there will be a 12% discount. When making you reservation, advise them that you are with the FMC group and the rally master is Stephen Heinrichs. As soon as you have made your reservation, please email or text me advising me of the dates of your reservation and space number. My contact information is Stephen@Heinrichs.com or my mobile is 916-425-7996.

It is important to make your reservations as soon as you are confident that you will be there as if it looks like we will need more than the 10 spaces I want to reserve more close by before they are gone.

I will see you at the Rally!!

Site #64 is in the bag.

End riverfront-unit with lots of room for my sometimes unruly 80-pound Lab/Husky child. Can also aim my music off-yonder instead of right into my neigbours face :-)

Now: passports, fridge repair... yada-yada!

Looking forward to it.

Including the Capell's in coach #621, we now have 8 FMC's coming and 1 SOB for a current total of 9 attendee's. If you are thinking about it, time to call and make your reservation.

Time for any fence sitters to commit!

Jim Woestman of Carthage, MO has just confirmed and will be in site #62. That spot was not part of the reserved group as it had been previously been reserved. Either that person cancelled or the park moved them, so we now have 11 confirmed attendee's: 10 FMC Coaches and one SOB.

I really look forward to this rally. We will have a lot of good things to discuss. So far, Jim is coming the furthest at approximately 1,932 miles.

Ok folks, it is time for a fence sitter to claim the last one of the reserved spots.

It is space #68 right next to our club president so you will be in a good neighborhood! We will be setting up the gathering spot between spots 66, 67, and 68 on the one side and spots 60, 61 and 62 on the other side so it will be close to all of the discussions and the food.

In the evenings, we will be having a campfire up at the central fire ring by the park's pavilion. That is the only place that fires can be used due to the fire danger. I will be bringing wood in my pickup so we will not run out!

So call the park at 541-782-1906 and reserve space #68 and then let me know of your reservation.

Special thanks to Stephen (BigRabbitMan) for arranging this rally! Come on, show your support by taking the last spot, or being the person that takes the one-over! This is a great park, an easy drive, with a stream next to our spaces, bring a fishing pole! Join us in town for dinner, and chew the rubber at the gathering spots. PLEASE! Baby needs you to throw her ball! (You know you want to!)

Dave and Helen, we are looking forward to visiting with you again. It is nice to have two Canadian attendee's.

You might have to drop south from I-90 on I-15 from Butte, MT to Idaho Falls then west to Boise and then on to Oregon. I think that route avoids the high passes. It all depends on the weather!

A short status update.

We now have 11 booked sites. The Capell's had to cancel, but the Wolfe's reserved so we are holding steady at the point of having 10 FMC coaches and one SOB. Additionally, I also expect another party will be staying in a motel nearby in Oakridge. That will give us 12 ownerships in attendance. I believe that is the highest number of attendee's at a rally since Minden, NB.

Additionally, I have been able to put two more adjacent sites on hold: those are #56 and #57. HOWEVER, those will be released on the 21st of September if not reserved by someone else in our group. So now is the time to get "off of the fence" and reserve your spot for the rally. Rallies are the place where "the brain trust" operates to help all owners with questions about their coaches and we also have a plain good time discussing things and sharing food and perhaps have some local things to do. The above spaces do look out over the river so they are a couple of the premium spaces.

As you know, registration instructions are posted above so call them now and make YOUR reservation!

Talked with Terry last night, his coach just spit power steering fluid all over. He hopes to get a replacement pump today.
I changed out my fuel system, pump, intake manifold and carb, carb, carb. The Holley from the 413HT I wanted to run sprayed fuel everywhere. 3 float bowls later I went with a thermo quad. Now I have an engine noise. Plan to change pump again this morning. If pump is my knock I’m back on track. If not I’m screwed.

Ha ha! Pump it is then...

Soon as I got some light out here I'm back at er'. Going to top up some fluid in my steering pump then run it again while under it to see exactly where the thing is puking fluid from. I've got today to get it right.

Good luck Billy!

Diagnosis confirmed: front pump shaft seal done. Puking out like a soda-fountain at a scout-camp!

Ordered a reman pump based on the CCMI-3004799 parts manual reference, which didn't tell any of my parts people anything.

Confident it is the Federal version and three different parts guys found a Dodge 1-ton 440' steering pump reference that crossed to a Cardone 20-840 unit.

Got one en-route from up Island; should be here before lunch.

Now, to get this old bitch out of there...

Scratch the aforementioned Cardone 20-840 pump. Wrong one.

Have this one coming from Vancouver tomorrow morning, thanks NAPA - (Cardone 20-130) https://www.carid.com/cardone/remanufactured-power-steering-pump-mpn...

It's the only pump we could find that has the two mount holes on the side and hopefully one on the back also.

Should be here by 9:30 and I have a guy lined up to pull the pulley off then put it all back together for me; don't have a puller and if I mangle the pulley, I'm really screwed.

If all goes well and I'm ready to roll by mid to late afternoon or sooner, it's a go.

Hopefully see ya all late Friday or early Sat AM.
Cheers,
Terry

Morning,

Missed the 7:00 pm ferry back to the Island last night by 5-mins. (insert sad-face here) Coming through Seattle en-route to a short visit at buddy Jay's place in Arlington, she decides to toss a power steer belt @ 65 mph in heavy traffic on the I-5. My bad, should have changed out the belts when I did the power steering pump before we left. Figured I could get one more short trip out of em. Not.

So, again, another learning experience in an FMC: you can actually drive these things without power-steering. Sure, it's like manhandling a very large post-war Russian farm tractor, but it's doable. Okay, freaky at times, but doable.

Driving it without PS reminded me of when I was younger and my buddy let me drive his coveted TR-3, but on a much grander scale. You can feel the road much more-so especially in the turns. As I went, gunning for the ferry, I mused about a 'variable-ratio' power steering set up for the coach, sorta like the system on the Nissan cars/trucks I sold for a while back in the 80's. Full-on assist for slow maneuvering in parking lots etc, but gradually backs off as speed increases; drivability increases exponentially.

This was our first rally and Vicki & I would like to thank you all for making us feel so welcome and included. Beautiful setting by the river, great food and a lot of laughs. My memories of all of you will be those of a friendly and engaging group of fellow enthusiasts and we will truly look forward to the day ahead when our trails will cross again. We'll be back and I'll bring less whiskey next time :-0

The whiskey was good, too good. I paid for it on Saturday....Thanks Terry!! It's hard for me to say goodbye at these rally's, bums me out. It's really cool to meet the people whom you chat with on the web about old relic motorhomes and whatever else. I got to convoy with Stephen for an hour or so on the way out (first time watching another FMC travel down the road) and we had people giving us the thumbs up on I-5. The stories and information where great at this rally too....We talked/listened/laughed our asses off about knocking Tammys head off (the little bratwurst), Me, Jim and Bill S talked Land Rovers and old busses/trains, their Transit Conversion is unreal, very nice. Manitoba Dave had massive mechanical information to share and his wife Helen celebrated her birthday Sunday night and we all sang around the campfire with buzzes, Harry Day tried to get me to fully understand vacuum vs. absolute pressure, his wife Sandy made blankets and cookies for us all! San Diego Bruce is working on traveling confidence and the FMC, he's getting there.... Stephen made some unreal sausages he purchased from somewhere back east, I could of ate the entire pot. Larry E tripped over a large rock near our campfire and hit the ground, a lot of people hit those rocks at night!!....and Coos Bay Joe was a retired crazy helicopter pilot with a really nice FMC. After hearing Terry's I-5 passing traffic story and accidently reaching 85 mph, I decided to run #850 a little harder on the way home, I cruised at 63mph (ewe...lol) and even hit 70 once on accident. #850 worked and ran flawlessly, I didn't have to turn a wrench the entire trip. I ALMOST broke out a screw driver to tighten a hose clamp under the kitchen faucet that was slowly leaking. I have a few improvements I want to do to #850 after learning new FMC stuff at the rally. I learned new things, some I will forget, some I will never forget. Looking forward to the next one.......I just hope I can afford the gas!!!

Great account of the festivities, Dan! Cept it wasn't 85, it was 80 and according to my GPS, if it's accurate, my speedo is about 5 mph too high up there.

Wonder if our coaches remember each other from the factory? Did they have a 'thing'? :-0

I agree with Terry in that Dan did a great account of the festivities. And yes, we burned a whole pickup load of firewood in the FMC firebox! A side note to Dan's caravanning with me was that initially Larry E. was behind me and Dan behind him. Larry pulled over to retrieve the FMC rally signs (which I had forgotten!) so Dan was then behind me. It did take me awhile to realize it was Dan and not Larry.

In about a week I will get a photo album posted. I am going to forward some pictures to Bill Rogers and he will put them together with some video that he did and then he will post a video of the rally on uTube. It would be good if other attendees can email their pictures to me so that I can have more options for the pictures I include. While photos and video's are great, actually being there is much better so start thinking about attending a future rally.

See you there!

Yeah Danno' - best hang on tight to dat' bitch when she decides to head north; sometimes it seems we're just 'along for the ride'. One of my issues is keeping my foot out of it. At the helm of an FMC, it just feels natural to be blowin' past sh#t. Might be the end of me...

Lemme' know if you decide to do something with your seat backs we talked about; maybe I can help some.

Be at the next rally that you can get to and you will have an enjoyable and educational time as we did at this rally.

Here is the link to the photo album in the Album section of this site: http://fmcowners.com/mbbs22/photos/photo-thumbnails.asp?albumid=190

Please note that Bill Rogers took some video's at the rally and will be posting an edited video to uTube. When that is competed, we will post a link to it here so standby.
